The Teller's Time
by Caie Buffington
The Teller sat with a mournful song that played within his brain And weeped and sobbed and frowned and wept till all thought him insane ‘The moon!’ he cried and eerily eyed the spectral orb of white And many a-time he cried this in the darkness in the night: ‘The moon will come and dread shall run as fast and swift as snow It soon will come and shall descend and strike the earth below The moon will come and soon will come and just as soon we go!’ And thus he said in woeful dread while watching the skies above All shook their head and went to bed save all but one he loved She loved the story, loved the song of the dying doomed nobody No thought of fear would dare draw near because she knew karate So down she went when the sun was spent to hear it once again And once again the song he sang as if it was his last refrain: ‘The moon will come and dread shall run as fast and swift as snow It soon will come and shall descend and strike the earth below The moon will come and soon will come and just as soon we go!'
Caie Buffington, master of smirks, ENTP, and occasional poet & writer, was born sometime in the Twenty-First Century and thankful that God saved him in that same era. At age five, he was fool enough to pick up the Lord of the Rings on a dare from his dad and read it cover to cover. Now bearing the curse of reading too much good literature too soon, he prefers writing whatever comes to mind while sipping any tea (including earl grey).

I love the rhythm of this poem!
Love the poem, very Tolkienesque!
